In the Champions League they defeated Slovan Bratislava 5-1. The goals were scored by different players, so everyone joins in the celebration.

On the weekends, Nice Guys Nola on Earhart Blvd always has a line out the door. There is now a second location, Headquarters by NGN. It is located at the old location of the Little Gem Saloon.

I was there last Friday and enjoyed the atmosphere. The music was blaring, but not too loud. Multiple TVs to watch the big game.

But the food was the best part. I topped the fried catfish with Creole crawfish sauce and served it with sizzling potatoes, red beans, and rice.

Everything on the plate was divine. I would recommend everything. It’s just a shame, the price. Lunch is quite expensive at $32, but it was still delicious.

According to a new report, Bane and DeathStroke are being prepped for a new film in the DC Universe.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that DC Studios is working on a film that will feature both Bane and Deathstroke.

The University of Wisconsin Board of Regents voted unanimously Friday to fire a communications professor who wanted to keep his job after he was fired as chancellor of one of the system’s campuses for producing pornographic films.

Joe Gow, who served as UW-La Crosse’s chancellor for nearly 17 years, argued last week that he should retain a teaching position on campus. But the university’s lawyers argued that he behaved unethically, violated the terms of his employment contract, damaged the university’s reputation and compromised its mission.

The regents met in closed session Friday morning before publicly voting to fire Gow. There was no public discussion before the board vote.

Gow said he is considering filing a lawsuit to keep his teaching job. He did not immediately respond to a message Friday morning.

Gow has been on paid leave from his faculty position since the regents fired him as chancellor in 2023, shortly after university leadership became aware of the videos posted on pornographic websites.

“This describes children sniffing every available hydrocarbon they can get their hands on,” said Dr. Anthony Pizon, chief of medical toxicology at UPMC and professor of emergency medicine at the University of Pittsburgh.

He said this practice of inhaling fumes from common household items has been around for decades, but new research suggests trending social media videos may be the reason for its comeback.

“Unfortunately, a lot of kids are exposed to it, especially because of its appeal on TikTok,” Pizon said.

He said short- and long-term “chroming” could pose serious risks.

“Sometimes people take this to the extreme and put the compound in a bag and put the bag over their head and they can obviously suffocate. Some of the compounds they inhale can cause cardiac arrest, which would be very serious. Pizon said the term “chrome plating” comes from people getting metallic paint on their hands and face after, for example, inhaling metallic paints on a rag.

He said “chroming” and inhaling “whippits,” also known as nitrous oxide, go hand in hand because the products are legal and easy to obtain.

While videos of these two dangerous trends are circulating on social media platforms like TikTok, searching for “chroming,” “whippits,” or “whiptok” on TikTok will direct you to substance use resources and helplines.

Pizon said his advice to parents is to be curious.

“You just have to be as interested in what your kids are doing and aware of what they might have access to in their room. Be aware that these leached compounds may be under their bed. And if parents have these products at home, there is a long list of products to dispose of when they are no longer needed,” he said.

Experts say to watch for frequent nosebleeds or sores in or around the mouth or nose, as well as worsening academic performance or decreased interest in activities.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA), which represents 85,000 workers at ports from Texas to Maine, including 700 at the Port of New Orleans, is planning a strike next week.

In a video posted on YouTube, ILA President Harold J. Daggett explained the potential impact of the strike and predicted widespread economic disruption.

“The first week there will be news everywhere: boom, boom. In the second week, people who sell cars won’t sell cars because the cars won’t come off the ships. Everything in the United States comes from a ship. They go out of business. Construction workers are being laid off because materials are no longer being delivered,” Daggett said.

Contract negotiations between the ILA and the United States Maritime Alliance, which represents 40 shipping companies and terminal operators, have been on hold since June. The union is demanding better wages and assurances that ports will not fully automate their operations, which the ILA says would put thousands of jobs at risk.

“They’re trying to get robots and things like that to do our jobs and put us out of business,” said Henry Glover, president of ILA Local No. 3000.

Tens of thousands of ILA members are ready to strike. At the Port of New Orleans, 700 workers are expected to join the planned strike. Longshoremen warn that without their presence at the docks, the public can expect shortages and supply chain disruptions.
