Quarterback Will Howard and the Buckeyes will face the Spartans in a primetime game. The Kansas State transfer has completed 51 of 74 passes (68.9%) for 795 yards, six touchdowns and one interception this season, while Ole Miss transfer running back Quinshon Judkins has completed 336 yards and three touchdowns. Freshman sensation Jeremiah Smith leads the team with 14 catches for 281 yards and four scores.

The Spartans suffered a 23-19 road loss to Boston College last week when BC quarterback Thomas Castellanos hit receiver Lewis Bond on a 42-yard touchdown pass with 1:28 left to win the game late. MSU and first-year coach Jonathan Smith opened Big Ten play with a 27-24 win over Maryland on Sept. 7.
