Trump’s campaign in Wisconsin is a close race

Former President Trump is hosting a campaign rally in the key battleground state of Wisconsin on Saturday as the race for the White House remains close with less than six weeks until Election Day.

The event in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin — nearly two hours outside of Madison — was supposedly scheduled to take place outdoors but was moved indoors due to Secret Service personnel concerns. The decision comes after the former president faced two assassination attempts, one at his golf course in Florida earlier this month and another at a rally in Pennsylvania in July in which a bullet grazed his ear.

Recent polls show the competition between Trump and Vice President Harris is fierce in the Badger State. A new poll from The New York Times/Siena on Saturday showed Harris leading by two points, with 49 percent support to the former president’s 47 percent. However, this lead was within the margin of error.

The Hill/Decision Desk HQ polling index shows similar results in the critical swing state, with Harris at 49.8 percent support, ahead of Trump at 47.8 percent.

His remarks are scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. EDT.
