Chelsea 4:2 Brighton: What Fabian Hurzeler said

Brighton coach Fabian Hurzeler spoke to Match of the Day after today’s defeat: “We got off to a good start and controlled the game and dominated possession. We scored, but after that we had too many individual errors and you can’t win at Stamford Bridge with too many individual errors. We should learn from this quickly.”

“We were good in possession, but to win games you have to be good in both phases and we didn’t defend well.”

“We are still in a process and have to learn from it quickly. Every time we made a mistake, they punished him, and punished them quickly.”

“We have to analyze, we have to be honest with each other and do better next time.”

What went wrong today: “It’s still a process and we need a good connection on the pitch and we didn’t have that connection today. It’s my job as a head coach to improve those things.”

“In the first half you couldn’t change anything. We were disappointed that we conceded so many goals, but there were positives too. We tried to create some chances but I think Chelsea defended them pretty well.”

“At the end of the day, I think there was a bit of luck that wasn’t there. It wasn’t our day and in the end I think we deserved to lose.”

“We are all in this together – we win together and we lose together. We have to find a good balance; we must not lose our structure as quickly as before. We all have something to learn, including me.”

“There aren’t many players like Cole Palmer in the Premier League, he’s special.”
