Bangladesh has recently witnessed rapid development in the field of electric vehicles (EVs). It all started in January 2023 when Bangladesh launched its first “official” electric vehicle, Audi’s Q8 E Tron.

Since then, several automotive companies have expanded their offerings to include electric vehicles.

To promote the green initiative, the Bangladesh government has introduced an import tax on electric vehicles of about 89% of the vehicle value, the lowest import duty for all vehicle imports. Additionally, in line with government initiatives, various companies have set up charging stations across Bangladesh to make the process smoother.

In Bangladesh, Haval is considered as the first car manufacturer to set the trend for Chinese vehicles in Bangladesh. To meet the trend of electric vehicles, the company brought the GWM Ora EV to Bangladesh.

The Haval GWM Ora EV is Great Wall Motors’ first battery-electric vehicle. The Ora EV is considered retro-futuristic in its design and at first glance is reminiscent of small European hatchbacks such as the Volkswagen or the Fiat.

However, this car is equipped with a 63 kWh battery under its passenger seats with fast charging capability, allowing it to charge from 20% to 80% in about 43 minutes. When fully charged, this car has a stated maximum range of around 500 km.

Features include a 10.25-inch infotainment system with four or six speaker connectivity that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, spacious cabins for five people and high-quality safety features for a car sold to environmentally conscious people.

According to Haval’s website, there is either a four-year, 150,000 km vehicle warranty and up to eight years or 150,000 km of battery, drive motor and motor control warranty.
