Remnants of Hurricane Helene will pass near rainy Pennsylvania

Hurricane Helene hit Florida on Thursday as a strong Category 4 storm and although it has since weakened, it is still bringing heavy rain to some states.

According to the National Hurricane Center, the center of the storm is not focused on Pennsylvania but will be close. Flash flood warnings have been issued in Ohio and West Virginia, and rain will continue in Pennsylvania.

That includes the Harrisburg area, where it has been raining all week – and there are more wet days ahead. The National Weather Service forecast calls for rain across central Pennsylvania at least through early Wednesday.

Rain is expected to be off and on in the Harrisburg area on Saturday, particularly in the morning, according to the National Weather Service. The Weather Channel shows the chance of rain for most of the day is less than 20%. The high temperature is expected to be around 70°C.

Stevie Nicks will be performing in Hershey tonight, at the outdoor stadium, rain or not. Anyone traveling to other outdoor events should check for any changes in plans or venues.

Helene has resulted in the deaths of at least 44 people in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Millions are without power, countless buildings and roads have been destroyed or damaged.

  • Sunday: Showers, high 69, low 63
  • Monday: Showers, high 69, low 61
  • Tuesday: Rain, high 68, low 59
