1 day agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter will sit on the bench and have a left-handed hitter on the mound in Thursday’s series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays at Comerica Park. Matt Vierling is in left field and will clean up the bat, while Andy Ibanez joins the lineup at third base and will bat leadoff against Rays left-hander Tyler Alexander. In just 84 games in his third big league season, Carpenter has hit 17 home runs and is just four home runs away from setting a new career high. However, he struggled mightily against southpaws in a small sample in 2024, going 3-for-28 (.107) with one of his 17 home runs and 10 strikeouts in 32 plate appearances. Ibanez is in a good lineup spot for DFS, but still brings minimal upside with just five homers and two steals in 216 at-bats this year. Vierling hit .269 against left-handed hitters, but only on three of his 16 long balls.Keith Hernandez – RotoBaller
