Dune: Part Two Movie Review

This article was written by a student author from the chapter “Her Campus at Bentley.”

4.5/5

That was so good. This lived up to the hype, but the people who say it’s one of the best movies of all time are pretty crazy about it. Honestly, to each their own, because if you’re into this genre, it’s really good. Anyway, I knew they were just getting started with the first film, and with the second one they delivered! I love the music in this film and I can already tell that this is going to be one of those scores that becomes synonymous with the genre and setting of the film because it is just so perfect. Zendaya will always be famous to me, I love her so much. The mother absolutely killed it, her performance was truly shocking. So disturbing, but so captivating. The fact that Anya Taylor Joy’s character is her unborn child was a wild reveal. I really hope they take the time to look into everything because I’m a little confused. The fact that they were rakes (or however you spell that) amazed me, but I’m confused about how that helps them survive? And was this what Paul would find out about her bloodline that he wouldn’t be happy about? I also remember that Baron (or whatever Stellan Skarsgard’s character name is) said in the first movie that Leto was his brother when he killed him, so I’m very confused about that now, but I must have misunderstood it. I definitely left the theater with a few questions, but that’s why I just want them to explain everything to me! I’m just so entertained! I’m honestly really surprised that people liked this one so much and not the first one at all. Because it’s basically the same thing, just with a little more action.

When Stellan and Austin Butler kissed on the mouth it was really crazy to watch since they are uncles and nephews if I’m not mistaken. I’m sorry this review didn’t contain a coherent thought or a nuanced perspective. Another question I had was that I know the Holy War is going to happen now, but why is it called the Holy War? Is it because Paul is a religious symbol for the Freman? Is the war also Freman against the world? What happens if Paul wins? Last question – what are the Bene Gesserit plans? I don’t understand why there are “no sides” because why don’t they want Paul to win?
