Clocks will be changing to daylight saving time very soon

Ah, it’s October. Halloween is just a few days away. The weather has finally cooled down, hopefully for good (at least until spring).

You know what that means – it’s time to remind everyone when Daylight Saving Time ends.

The days will get darker sooner as people turn their clocks back on Sunday, November 3rd. No matter what your opinion on this practice, this “relapse” in time means at least we’re all rewarded with an extra hour of sleep.

However, Pennsylvania residents will soon no longer have to follow daylight saving time rules. PennLive reported back in April 2021 how the state House of Representatives passed a bill that would make daylight saving time permanent by a vote of 103-98.

But what would be the point? Well, the same article explained that various studies suggest that permanent daylight saving time has a number of benefits, such as: B. Energy savings, fewer traffic accidents, less crime and generally a healthier lifestyle across the population.

“I think this is a very positive reform for Pennsylvania going forward. Changing the time twice a year is incredibly inefficient and an outdated practice,” bill sponsor Rep. Ryan Mackenzie, R-Lehigh County, told PennLive.

“I think there’s a movement toward some sort of permanence, and I want to be a part of that.”

Not that this idea is unique to Pennsylvania: The National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) – which “represents the legislatures in the states, territories, and commonwealths of the United States” to “encourage the effectiveness, independence, and integrity of the legislatures to promote”. According to its About page, there have been at least 650 bills and motions to implement year-round daylight saving time across the country in recent years.

So until that day a law is passed saying otherwise, Daylight Saving Time will continue to end on Sunday, November 3rd this year.
