The DCU’s first project has already broken a disappointing 19-year-old Batman trend

In 2003, Christopher Nolan set out to deliver a new version of the Caped Crusader after it failed Batman and Robin put the franchise on hold for eight years. The DCUs Creature Commands The animated series is penned by DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn and will continue his tradition of exploring obscure comic book characters. The series will launch on Max in December and ahead of it, DC Studios has unveiled a new trailer that reveals new and exciting details. One of the characters Creature Commands The series introduced to the DCU is Doctor Phosphorus, who has connections to Batman in the comics.

Batman’s Rogue’s Gallery is full of villains still waiting for live-action and animated debuts. Doctor Phosphorus is one of them, first appearing in 1977’s Detective Comics #469. Doctor Phosphorus is a metahuman with an appearance similar to Batman Beyond’s Blight. He can manipulate radiation and face off against Batman at various points in the comics. Doctor Phosphorus’s origins are also tied to Gotham City’s crime boss, Rupert Thronewho has played a major role in animated Batman projects and appears briefly in the new one Creature Commands Trailer, seemingly part of the DCU twist on his origin. Doctor Phosphorus is a far cry from the Batman villains audiences have seen lately, but with Rupert Throne’s brief appearance in the trailer too, the DCU is already preparing its awesome Batman and Gotham City.

Creature Commandos will feature an awesome Clayface

• Clayface is one of Batman’s oldest villains, first appearing as Basil Karlo in Detective Comics #40 in June 1940.
• Numerous characters have appeared in the Batman comics as Clayface with different abilities and appearances.
• The Haunting of Hill House Showrunner Mike Flanagan has reportedly pitched a feature film about Clayface to DC Studios CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran.

The new trailer for Creature Commandos also featured the surprise appearance of a more notable Batman villain. In the trailer, Rick Flag Sr. can be seen fighting Clayface. Unlike Doctor Phosphorus, Clayface has appeared in numerous Batman media over the years. Clayface played an important role in this Batman: Arkham City video game and recently appeared in the animated series Batman: Caped Crusader Series.

Like so many comic book characters, Clayface has had different versions, as a grounded villain and as a shape-shifting metahuman. One of the earliest rumors about Reeves’ The Batman – Part II is that there would be a more grounded Clayface in the style of his Silver Age appearance. Furthermore, the Creature Commands The trailer clearly shows that the more fantastic Clayface fans have gotten used to it largely because of this Batman: The Animated Series Version. Because Clayface can be grounded and awesome, The DCU going for the shapeshifting version hints at what threats this universe’s Batman will face.

Superheroes and villains will surround Batman in the DCU

Unlike the DCEU Creature Commands will introduce the more fantastic villains from Batman’s gallery from the start. The brave and the courageous will most likely introduce the DCU version of Batman, and by the time this film comes out there will already be several other notable superheroes. Also, Superman, Supergirl, Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, Mr. Terrific and others will appear in previously released projects. While the DCU will feature projects with its style and aesthetic, Batman will deal with a fully formed world in which super-powered characters already operate, and will likely cross paths with them if the franchise proves successful.

The road to DCU has been hectic, with numerous box office bombs from the old regime still fresh Joker: Folie à Deux, It made fans aware of a new beginning.
