More than 400 workers are facing layoffs at four North Texas companies

More than 400 workers across North Texas will lose their jobs before the end of the year. Here is a summary of the layoffs:

Dennis uniform

The uniform maker is laying off all 139 employees at its plant at 473 Successful Drive in Fort Worth. She informed the Texas Workforce Commission of the layoffs in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Letter filed Oct. 19.

The school uniform company is based in Portland, Oregon, and is ceasing operations across the country. The letter to the labor commission refers to “serious financial problems.” According to their website, the company was originally founded in 1920.

Jabil

Jabil announced in a warning letter dated Oct. 3 that it will lay off 136 employees from its facility at 2910 Telecom Parkway in Richardson. All employees have been informed of the permanent layoffs, which will occur in three phases from December 6, 2024 to January 3, 2025.

According to its website, Jabil is a global manufacturing company with more than 140,000 employees in more than 25 countries.

National Fire Prevention and Security

The company announced in a warning letter issued Oct. 15 that it would lay off 99 employees from its Dallas office at 8930 Diplomacy Row, Dallas. It added that the job cuts are expected to be permanent and will take effect on December 16, 2024.

National Fire & Safety is a Colorado-based company specializing in fire protection systems and services.

Wolfspeed

This North Carolina-based semiconductor manufacturer is closing its Famers Branch plant, the company said in a worker adjustment and retraining notice filed Oct. 22. The location at 4350 Innovation Drive will close within 30 days, putting 73 workers out of work until next month.

The company said in the letter that the facility closure is expected to be permanent.
