Deuce Knight receives a five-star award from On3 Sports

Lipscomb’s Deuce Knight (2) looks forward against IMG on Friday night, August 18, 2023, at Lipscomb’s Reese Smith Football Field in Nashville, Tennessee. IMG won the game 35-10.

2025 Auburn Tiger quarterback Deuce Knight received an upgrade in his On3 industry ranking on Wednesday. The No. 6 quarterback in the 2025 cycle, the 6-foot-11 Mississippi native transferred from Notre Dame to Auburn earlier this fall.

Knight is now the No. 32 overall pick next season and will likely finish the cycle as the No. 2 pick out of Mississippi State, behind only wide receiver Caleb Cunningham, who committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2025. It’s expected that Knight will compete for the quarterback job once he begins practicing on the Plains next season. Should he win the gig, he would be the first true freshman to start a game for the Tigers since Bo Nix.

Knight, Auburn’s only five-star recruit joining the team next season, recently spoke with Auburn Live about the confidence his future head coach has in him. “Coach Freeze believes we can both do something special with the offense… He said[id] to come to Alabama and take over college football.”

The left-handed quarterback is the top-ranked prospect in what is now the No. 5-ranked 2025 college football recruiting class. Hugh Freeze’s Tigers trail only Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia and LSU for the top spot in the country. Knight and the highly touted class will begin competing for starting spots once the Tigers begin spring training next year.
