Every child at Glasgow Children’s Hospital now has a Player 2

Glasgow Children’s Hospital is getting its own gamer-in-residence thanks to charity funding.

For the first time across the UK and Ireland, a gamer-in-residence is coming to the wards and wings of a children’s hospital. Thanks to the Glasgow Children’s Hospital charity and some major fundraising events, every patient at Glasgow’s Royal Hospital for Children has a Player 2 to help them chat, participate in local co-op or simply relax.

Unusual but welcome news: this announcement brings new 26-year-old Steven Mair into the role of gamer-in-residence. His duties include not only hosting gaming-themed events in his new home, such as: B. the launch ceremony of the popular football game EA Sports FC 25, but also leading a Rouges Gallery of gaming volunteers and helping to raise funds through gaming.

Muir’s appointment to this support, or DPS, role when it suits, comes after Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity raised more than £100,000 through the Games for the Weans campaign.

“Thank you to everyone in the gaming community for supporting this unique initiative to help young patients from across the country play in hospital,” said Kirsten Watson, CEO of Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. “Your support will not only fund more consoles and games for the children’s hospital, but will now mean Scotland’s young patients always have a second gamer.”

It’s no surprise that gaming can do good, but this is a visible result of these efforts, helping children grow and play despite stressful and sometimes quite boring experiences. Titles like “Child’s Play,” “Special Effect” and more are familiar names to Twitch viewers and hope to help fund more new stories like this one. For now though, Glasgow is miles better with this Player 2.
