Starbucks’ Halloween-Themed ‘Wicked’ Drinks Hit Stores Along With New Movie Merchandise Despite Weak Preliminary Fourth Quarter Results – Starbucks (NASDAQ:SBUX)

As Halloween approaches, Starbucks Corp. SBUX has introduced two new drinks inspired by the upcoming film “Wicked.” This comes at a time when the company reported weak preliminary results.

What happened: According to Today.com on Monday, Starbucks has released two limited-time Halloween drinks inspired by the movie “Wicked.” The drinks are designed to reflect the personalities of the film’s main characters, Glinda and Elphaba.

These themed drinks will be available starting October 22nd in the US, Canada and select international locations.

In addition to the drinks, Starbucks is offering “Wicked”-themed gift cards and will launch a line of “Oz” tumblers and tumblers starting November 7th. The main role can be seen in the film “Wicked”. Ariana Grande And Cynthia Erivo, is scheduled to premiere on November 22nd, with a sequel planned for 2025.

Why it matters: The introduction of these themed drinks comes at a challenging time for Starbucks. Recently, the company reported weak preliminary financial results for the fourth quarter, which led to a decline in its stock price. Starbucks expects consolidated net sales to decline 3% and global comparable sales to decline 7%.

Additionally, earnings per share are expected to decline 25% year-over-year. Given these challenges, Starbucks has suspended its full fiscal year 2025 guidance to allow for a comprehensive assessment of its business strategies.

Price promotion: Starbucks traded 3.72% lower during premarket trading on Wednesday, according to Benzinga Pro.
