Georgia high school shooting suspect pleads innocence

BARROW COUNTY, Ga. (WANF/Gray News) – The 14-year-old charged in the fatal shooting at Apalachee High School in Georgia has pleaded not guilty.

According to court documents, Colt Gray entered his plea in Barrow County Superior Court on Tuesday. Colt and his attorney also opted out of a formal agreement and requested a jury trial.

Colt faces 55 charges, including felony murder and first-degree murder.

Colt and Colin Gray are expected to be tried separately.

His father, Colin Gray, was also charged in connection with the shooting. He faces 29 counts, including second-degree murder, second-degree cruelty to children, involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct. Authorities believed he gave Colt access to the gun used in the shooting.

Students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, both 14, and teachers Cristina Irimie and Richard Aspinwall were killed in the Sept. 4 shooting.

Colt and his father are expected to be tried separately.
