LeBron James and Bronny James are the first father and son to play together in the NBA.

The basketball star took the court with his 20-year-old son at the LA Lakers’ season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The pair received a huge ovation as they made history at the Crypto.com Arena.

They played together for about two and a half minutes in the second quarter.

Bronny failed to score in his brief appearance, but still received an ovation when he left the pitch with 1:19 minutes to play.

LeBronthe NBA’s all-time points record holder, is widely considered one of the greatest players of all time.

He finished the game with 16 points and the Lakers won 110-103.

The 39-year-old had long spoken of his ambition to share the court with his son – a second-round draft pick by the Lakers in June.

“That moment when we sat at the scorer’s table together and reported together, that’s a moment I’ll never forget,” said LeBron.

“No matter how old I get, no matter how much my memory fades as I get older or whatever, I will never forget this moment.”

Bronny told the media, “(I) tried not to focus on everything that was going on around me and tried to focus on coming in as a freshman and not trying to screw it up.”

“But yeah, I really felt the energy and I appreciate Laker Nation for supporting me and my dad.”

Bronny had open heart surgery last year after a cardiac arrest and previously played a shortened season as a freshman at the University of Southern California Participation in the NBA draft – the annual selection of players.
