Is Cristiano Ronaldo playing today? Al Nassr striker status for the next Saudi Arabia vs Al Shabab match

Cristiano Ronaldo, at the age of 39, continued to score goals for Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr throughout the 2023/24 season, but the season ended on a sour note as his team lost the Kings Cup final to Al Hilal.

Ronaldo moved to the Middle East a month after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, closing the chapter in his extraordinary European career.

Al Nassr boasts an impressive collection of 28 official trophies and domestically the club has won nine Pro League titles, six King Cups, three Crown Prince’s Cups, three Federation Cups and two Super Cups.

Ronaldo’s side lost the league title to Al Ittihad last season and Al Hilal were crowned champions in 2023/24. Al Nassr were also eliminated from the AFC Champions League on penalties against Al Ain last season and lost on penalties against Al Hilal on May 31.

Ronaldo’s final quest for trophies began in Riyadh in August 2024, starting the 2024/25 season with the Saudi Super Cup.

Is Cristiano Ronaldo playing today?

Cristiano Ronaldo has been named as captain in the starting eleven for Al Nassr’s continental game against Esteghlal on Tuesday, October 22nd.

Ronaldo has been in top form this season, scoring in all but one of his appearances in all competitions before the game, but failed to score as Aymeric Laporte scored the winner in the 81st minute to put Al Nasser three points ahead .

Al Nassr will again take part in five competitions in the 2024/25 season, including the Saudi Pro League, King’s Cup, AFC Champions League, Arab Club Champions Cup and Saudi Super Cup.

They began their domestic Super Cup season on August 14, with their first Pro League game eight days later.
