The warm, dry forecast continues

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – The streak of dry days without measurable precipitation at Montgomery Regional Airport is now 18 and counting. This trend will continue for the foreseeable future as a stubborn ridge of high pressure hovers over the Southeast, keeping us dry for several more days.

Temperatures outside this morning are around 50 degrees with nice skies and light winds. Lots of sunshine today will warm us into the mid to upper 80s with a northwest breeze. Overnight lows will remain in the 50s with clear and calm weather.

While we desperately need the rain, the dry weather makes for some pretty nice outdoor plans. Afternoon highs will continue to rise slightly each day this week, reaching the mid to upper 80s by the end of the week, with morning temperatures in the 50s overnight and early morning.

It is expected to remain dry this weekend, although a weak front will move across the region. Although there will be no rain in the area, temperatures will cool slightly by Sunday into early next week.

Expect highs in the mid to upper 80s with sunny weather on Saturday, moving to the upper 70s to lower 80s on Sunday, more typical for this time of year. Overnight lows will also slowly fall back into the lower 50s by the end of the weekend.

On the trail of the tropics: Both Nadine and Oscar are no more… and there are no other systems that we are observing over the next seven days. There are some computer model signals for the possibility of development in the Caribbean Sea around November 1st. We will be watching until the Atlantic hurricane season ends on November 30th.
