Marian inducts 10 new members into Sports Hall of Fame, District XI Hall of Fame recognizes former Fillies – Pottsville Republican Herald

Marian Catholic High School inducted 10 new members into its Hall of Fame class Oct. 20 at a dinner celebration at Capriotti’s.

These members included Dave Lewis, Angela Rutch Chromiak, Collette Makowiec Thomas, Alana Zahora Carr, Eddie McLaughlin, Justin Barrasso, Paul Coombe, Edward Shober, TJ Lawrence and Jillian Homyak Snyder.

Former Marian Catholic Fillies and Shenandoah Valley Lady Blue Devils basketball coach Paul Gross, who earned 750 wins in his 40-year career, and the former Mahanoy Area Lady Golden Bears cager were among 14 people killed Sunday during a District 11 Hall of Fame Dinner Program at the Delta Hotel, Breinigsville.

Gross received his plaque from his daughter Pam, while Yedsena was presented her plaque by former coach Dot Demmer. Gross led the Fillies to a state championship and multiple division, league, district and Eastern PA PIAA championships in a 32-1 season in 2008. Yedsena scored 2,751 points for Mahanoy before graduating in 1990 and helped the Lady Bears win state titles in 1988 and 1989.
