Over 2,000 participants were invited Complete a lifestyle survey followed by Creyos online brain games which measure memory, attention, logical thinking and verbal skills. The study, led by Adrian Owen, a professor of cognitive neuroscience and imaging at Western’s Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, shows that among the 1,000 people who completed all tasks, Playing games had a positive effect on cognition but did not affect mental health.

Interestingly, this contradicts what Hiroyuki Egami, a behavioral scientist at Nihon University in Tokyo, previously found. His study included more people and concluded that purchasing a PS5 console during a PS5 console shortage resulted in mental health benefits.
