Mushfiqur Rahim makes history and becomes the first Bangladeshi player….

Mushfiqur Rahim etched his name in the history books and made history on the second day of the first Test match against South Africa. The veteran Bangladesh batsman became the first player from his country to break the elusive 6,000-run mark in Test cricket. Rahim, Bangladesh’s leading run-scorer, is the only Bangladesh batsman with more than 5500 runs. And now he has completed 6,000 test runs.

Rahim has scored 6003* runs in 93 Test matches. His record includes 11 centuries and 27 half-centuries. The right-handed batsman has 12 ducks in Tests. Rahim is second in the list of Bangladesh batsmen with most tons (11). At 13 centuries, Mominul Haque attains the position of Numero Uno. Rahim made his Test debut against England at Lord’s in 2005.

Tamim Iqbal is second in the list of batsmen with the most Test runs for his country. He ended his career with 5134 runs. Follows him Shakib al Hasanwho has 4609 runs in 71 Tests.

Rahim is the former Test captain of Bangladesh and led the national team in 34 matches. Under him, Bangladesh won seven matches and suffered 18 defeats.

Bangladesh Trail with 101 runs

Bangladesh are way behind in the game, trailing by 101 runs. As the home team chose to bat first, they were bowled out with a total of 106 in the first innings. Kagiso Rabada, Wiaan Mulder and Keshav Maharaj did the damage with the ball, scalping three wickets each.

Courtesy of Kyle Verreynne, SA bounced back and totaled 308 points on the board. Mulder scored a half-century. Bangladesh lost two early wickets and were reeling at 4/2. They finished the day with a total score of 101 and are still trailing by a large margin.
