Second suspect pleads guilty in Galleria shooting that killed 8-year-old

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – A second man has pleaded guilty to one count Filming in 2020 at Galleria Mall An 8-year-old boy was killed.

King Gary Williams has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the death of Royta Giles, who was hit by a bullet as he stood outside a mall store with his family.

Williams pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in Royta’s killing and three counts of second-degree assault for injuring three other people. He was initially charged with murder before pleading guilty to the lesser charges.

Investigators said the shooting stemmed from an argument between Williams and other men Montez Coleman, who pleaded guilty on the same charges as Williams earlier this year.

A judge sentenced Williams to 25 years for involuntary manslaughter and 10 years, including two years each, for assault.
