Rodgers says the Jets need to play with less “anger.”

Aaron Rodgers took responsibility for the Jets’ loss in Sunday’s loss at Pittsburgh, saying he needed to bring more energy and be a better leader.

Rodgers also believes the Jets’ mentality and approach needs to change and that they need to relax and play more freely.

“Personally and as a team, we play with too much anger and not enough joy,” Rodgers said during his appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday. “We just need to have a little more fun, smile more and enjoy each other. Of course it’s fun when you win. There are ways to relieve some of the pressure. It has to start with me this week, with my energy and my approach.”

Interim coach Jeff Ulbrich said something similar on Monday. Ulbrich feels the Jets are applying too much pressure and he needs to “do a better job of letting the pressure they put on themselves come to them.”

The Jets appear to be on the same page here. They weren’t on the field.

They have lost four games in a row and are a disappointing 2-5. The Jets believed they could compete for a Super Bowl. After a loss at New England on Sunday, the Jets are tied for last place in the AFC East.

Rodgers pointed to his previous Green Bay teams making a run after bad starts. In 2016, they went 4-6 and won the next eight games before losing in the NFC title game. Rodgers said it starts with belief.

“The power of faith is a snowball that can trigger an avalanche. That’s what we need and it starts with me,” Rodgers said. “For some reason it was a bit tight on match day. It has to start with me. I had to bring the same energy and lead with that energy throughout the week.

“I think there were some good leadership moments, but I have to be a great leader.”

Rodgers made some uncharacteristic errors during this skid. He has thrown six interceptions in the last three games. One came just before halftime in Pittsburgh — which Rodgers admitted was “a bad decision” — and led to a momentum shift. The Jets never recovered.

Now, Rodgers believes the Jets need a mentality shift — offensively and overall.

Rodgers said the offense should be the reason the Jets win, not “despite the offense.”

Additionally, Rodgers said Jets players need to ask themselves two questions: What’s the worst-case scenario and what’s the best-case scenario? He said they needed to be able to “deal with it but then move on” and just play freely.

“The worst thing that could happen is if we don’t turn the situation around and things go wrong and a lot of us find ourselves in a different stratosphere,” Rodgers said. “Now deal with it. Will you be okay in the end? Yes, I’ll be fine. The boys will be fine.

“The best thing that can happen is that we embrace the energy that has changed in two weeks, go out and play freely, have fun, enjoy ourselves on the field, do the little things, lift each other up and celebrate. “. We believe in each other. We communicate on the sidelines. And when we run, we can do something magical.”

Davante Adams felt a lack of energy throughout the game in his Jets debut.

“We could have been more energetic as a team, supporting each other and just celebrating each other’s success,” Adams said during an appearance on “Up and Adams with Kay Adams” on Tuesday. “From that standpoint I felt like it was a little flat. Next week that’s something we’ll be doing [have to] Make sure we keep going.”

Rodgers rejected the notion that the Jets were close to figuring things out.

“That doesn’t work [expletive] for you,” Rodgers said. “Hey, we’re close. In order. Maybe we’ll put it together this week.

“It will be interesting to see how we respond to this. We’re definitely on fire. It was a difficult period of four games for us until we got a win [over New England] that everyone felt really good on Thursday evening. We have to restart and get things in the right direction from Sunday.”
