TIPTON CO., Tenn. (WMC) – The Tipton and Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Offices are conducting an internal investigation into the arrest of Jackson Hopper.

Footage of the arrest surfaced on social media, showing officers arresting Hopper on the side of the road after he crashed his vehicle.

Hopper appeared in court with a bruised face.

A man is facing charges after killing his 22-year-old ex-girlfriend Ellie Claire Young of Henning, Tennessee, on Saturday in Shelby Farms.

“The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office never tolerates misconduct by employees, but recognizes that all sources of information must be evaluated before conclusions can be drawn. “All findings will be made public as appropriate and will be based on the recommendations of the District Attorney for the 25th Judicial District,” Sheriff Brian Kelly wrote on social media.

Hopper, 26, is charged with first-degree murder. He has since pleaded not guilty.

He is accused of killing 22-year-old Ellie Young at Shelby Farms Park on Saturday.

Hopper is also charged in Tipton County with reckless driving, aggravated assault, evading arrest and more.

Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy said his office has not requested bail in Hopper’s case while he awaits a hearing.
