Nonprofit aims to “kill Musk’s Twitter”

A whistleblower revealed that a nonprofit focused on “digital hate” has the stated goal of destroying Elon Musk’s X Platform.

Leaked documents show that the Center for Countering Digital Hate, a non-profit US and UK charity, has an internal goal of “killing Musk’s Twitter”.

Images from January, March, and October 2024 list “Kill Musk’s Twitter” as an annual priority. Other priorities included “advertising focus,” “triggering regulatory action in the EU and UK,” and “making progress toward change in the US.”

Reporters Paul Thacker and Matt Taibbi posted additional screenshots showing that the nonprofit hoped to discuss the guidelines with Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s team and get “a press release quote/recommendation” from her. The document showed that the nonprofit had already arranged a meeting with the senator’s team.

According to Thacker, the nonprofit held a private conference with a group of liberal representatives organizing against Musk.

Guests included members of the Joe Biden administration, Congressman Adam Schiff’s office, Biden State Department officials, Canadian MP Peter Julian and Media Matters for America.

In response to the report, Musk simply stated: “This is war.”

“Boycott all advertisers on Twitter.” Mute all ads.’

The nonprofit uses Musk to collect donations in a few places on its website; On its homepage, the organization cites a legal victory against the entrepreneur and claims it is working to “hold the social media giants accountable.”

“Fighting Elon Musk’s lawsuit cost us thousands of dollars. … Help us get back on track,” the nonprofit wrote.

The CCDH openly states that platforms like X “and their owners” “must be held accountable for the spread of hate and misinformation.”

One of her alleged comrades-in-arms is actually Peter Julian, who recently called for a boycott of “all advertisers” on X.

“Boycott all advertisers on Twitter. Mute all ads. Let’s end the nightmare of a far-right hate speech billionaire controlling this social media platform,” Julian wrote.

In addition to blatantly pursuing the advertisers of

One of their campaigns, titled “X Content Moderation Failure,” argues that Musk’s platform has failed to delete “hateful posts.” It was claimed that 86% of reported posts were still not removed within a week of being reported.

The company said it also found “dozens of advertisements for household brands like Apple and Disney that appeared alongside hate speech.”

In its report, “Abuse of Women in Politics,” the company complained that the company “found 1,000 offensive comments against female politicians running for office” on Instagram.

The company then said that Meta “took no action against 926 of these hateful comments.”

The CCDH also accuses the platforms of harboring climate disinformation, saying that “content producers profit from the spread of new forms of climate denial.”

The nonprofit continues to claim it is part of the “reasonable majority” wanting to avert a “climate catastrophe,” but is failing as it has to contend with a huge barrage of disinformation aimed at delaying its action to save the planet .
