Baptist Health Community Outreach offers free flu shots for ages 12 and older

With flu and cold season almost upon us, we need to be prepared to fight the illness that comes with it.

Baptist Health Community Outreach will be offering free flu shot clinics throughout central Arkansas to help fight the flu.

The free courses take place in November at the following locations for people aged 12 and over:

Bryant

  • Wednesday, November 13, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Bryant Senior Activity Center, 6410 Boone Road #3 (Bishop Park)

Jacksonville

  • Thursday, November 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Nixon Library, 703 W Main

Little Rock

  • Monday, Nov. 4, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Jim Dailey Fitness & Aquatics Center, 300 South Monroe St.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the East Little Rock Community Center, 2500 E 6th St.
  • Tuesday, November 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Center, 315 N Shackleford Road
  • Wednesday, November 13, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the West Central Community Center, 4251 John Barrow Road
  • Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mosaic Church of Central Arkansas, 6221 Colonel Glenn Road
  • Thursday, Nov. 21, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Southwest Community Center, 6401 Baseline Road
  • Tuesday, November 26, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Center, 315 N Shackleford Road

Lonoke

  • Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Lonoke Community Center, 1355 West Front St.

Northern Little Rock

  • Tuesday, November 5, 9 a.m. to noon at the Patrick Henry Hays Senior Center, 401 West Pershing (members and staff only)
  • Tuesday, November 19, 9 a.m. to noon at the Patrick Henry Hays Senior Center, 401 West Pershing (members and staff only)

Sherwood

  • Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Sherwood Senior Citizen Center, 2301 Thornhill Drive
  • Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Sherwood Senior Citizen Center, 2301 Thornhill Drive

Although the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends everyone 6 months and older get a flu shot, those between 6 months and 11 years old are not eligible for Baptist Health Community Outreach’s flu shot clinics.

Although they are not approved, other vaccination options can be explored by talking to the child’s pediatrician.

People at high risk of serious complications (young children; pregnant women; people with chronic illnesses such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease and lung disease; people aged 65 and over; people who live with or care for someone who is at high risk If you have serious flu complications, it is strongly recommended that you get vaccinated against the flu.

Vaccines can also be obtained at Baptist Health primary care and urgent care locations across the state.
