Josh Hartnett’s serial killer thriller Trap arrives this week on Max

Catch– a serial killer thriller directed by M. Night Shyamalan and starring Josh Hartnett – opens this week on Max.

Catch opened in theaters on August 2nd and per The numbershas grossed $82.4 million at the worldwide box office to date. Accordingly ColliderTrap’s production budget of $30 million before printing and advertising was financed by Shyamalan himself, who also wrote the screenplay for the film.

In the film, Harnett plays Cooper, a father who brings his young teenage daughter Riley (Ariel Donoghue) to a concert with pop superstar Raven (Saleka Shyamalan). When he notices a massive security and police presence at the concert, Cooper discovers that the authorities are using the venue to catch a serial killer known as “The Butcher.”

The development naturally makes Cooper nervous because – like the trailer for Catch reveals – he is the butcher and is monitoring his next victim via his phone. However, as security is tight, Cooper desperately tries to leave the venue unnoticed.

According to Max, Catch will begin streaming on the Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service on Friday, October 25th. Since Catch is a Warner Bros. film, the studio is releasing all of its film titles as streaming video-on-demand on Max.

You must be a Max subscriber to stream the film on the platform. Max offers three different subscription options. Viewers can subscribe to streaming for $9.99 per month with ads or $16.99 per month without ads. Additionally. Max offers an ad-free package that also allows viewers to stream content in 4K Ultra HD for $20.00 per month.

Shyamalan says that “Trap” is about the “real” monsters of society

In an interview with IndieWire before the publication of Catch In theaters, the publication asked M. Night Shyamalan why so many of his films contain an element of “everyday tragedy.”

“I think I’m trying to come to grips with the darker things we experience in life – I’m trying to find meaning in them. Let’s say Catch is about the real monsters in an existing society,” said Shyamalan IndieWire. “There may be people on a continuum of empathy to the character Josh plays in Cooper, but they are there: people without empathy.

“I read something that said 4% of Americans could be considered sociopaths – they just have no empathy – and it’s so scary because we feel that,” the writer-director continued. “Our alarm signals are going off a little bit. “Huh, that’s strange.” I’m just using it as an example of the kind of everyday tragedies.”

Rotten tomatoes Critics were divided in their reviews Catchas they gave the film an overall “poor” rating of 57% based on 232 reviews.

Rated PG-13, Catch debuts Friday on SVOD on Max. The film is also available for digital streaming via Premium Video on Demand.
