Kristin Cavallari opens up about the arrest of Jay Cutler, the father of her children

Five days after the arrest of her ex-husband and father of her children, Jay Cutler, podcast host and business owner Kristin Cavallari has released a statement.

On October 17, the former NFL star quarterback was arrested after a minor traffic accident in Tennessee. He was charged Driving while drunk and possession of a handgun while under the influence, according to jail records obtained by USA Today.

According to WGNTV, Cutler was arrested and taken to court. He was released later that night after posting $5,000 bail.

E! News reported that Cutler allegedly tried to “flee the scene” after offering the driver of the vehicle he rear-ended $2,000 in exchange for not involving law enforcement.

Police noted that Cutler’s eyes were “bloodshot,” his speech was “thick-tongued, slurred and mumbled,” and he “exuded an overwhelming odor of an alcoholic beverage” while speaking to him, the obtained indictment says Bye ! News.

Cutler initially denied drinking alcohol before eventually admitting to “drinking a little bit of alcohol.” E! News reported.

On the latest episode of her podcast “Let’s Be Honest,” Cavallari addressed Cutler’s arrest.

After starting their relationship in 2013, Cavallari and Cutler eventually got married. They had three children, Camden, Jaxon and Saylor, before divorcing in 2022.

The former couple shared some of their life together on their previous reality show, “Very Cavallari.”

Cutler retired from the NFL in 2017 after playing 12 years in the league for the Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins.

On Oct. 22, Cavallari briefly addressed the situation, saying the episode was recorded before the arrest. “I obviously wish Jay all the best and hope he gets the help he needs. But that’s all I’ll say publicly about it.”

Neither Cavallari nor Cutler often talk about their co-parenting arrangement. However, in a previous podcast episode, Cavallari noted a recent change in their custody agreement.

On the Oct. 1 episode, the mother of three noted that she feels happy following recent changes in her life, which included ending her relationship with TikTok star Mark Estes and changing the terms of her custody agreement with Cutler was to concentrate on her children and her work.

Cavallari explained: “When I was dating last fall, I still had separate custody with my ex and had every two weeks off from my kids,” Cavallari explained. However, “that has changed,” she added.

“So I’m really happy and really comfortable with the fact that my life is all about my kids and my work right now.”
