VALORANT patch notes 9.08

VALORANT patch notes 9.08

Welcome to the beginning of Episode 9, Act III. Let’s get into it.

The previously announced Sunset changes are now playable. Also playable is our newest team deathmatch map called “Glitch”.

Other updates in this patch include: a map rotation change, Yoru’s Fakeout Now interacts differently with certain agent abilities, updates to Gekko’s abilities, aka Globuli, aka Radivores, aka Gekko’s best friends, and more.

AGENT UPDATES

Gekko

Since you’ve mastered Gekko’s usefulness since his last buff Patch 7.12 We found that his basic play pattern of exploiting and winning back his friends has little to no downside. These changes to his pellets put pressure on Gekko to regain them quicker, and also allow Gekko’s opponents more counterplay to punish him if he is too reckless.

Dizzy And Wingman Both are getting improvements to their overall reliability to reduce the instances where you hear or see them targeting and weakening an enemy, only to find that the enemy is unaffected. These changes are aimed at fixing inconsistent behavior, rather than a direct performance increase for Gekko.

Dizzy is in a healthy state when it comes to how often you successfully engage in shooting counterplay, but we have a feeling Dizzy holds space and angle for too long. Given Gekko’s total number of plants and defuses Wingman , Thrash is too frequently available for its effect.

We hope that these changes do not greatly impact Gekko’s place in the ecosystem, but rather move it to a healthier place in the long term.

  • Globules
    • Reduced time in the world 20s >>> 15s
    • Recovery time increased by 1 second >>> 1.5 seconds
  • Dizzy
    • The active time after throwing and shaping is reduced by 1.5 seconds >>> 1 second.
    • Dizzy’s targeting algorithm has been updated to be more reliable.
    • Dizzy’s Goop Flash now also blinds affected players’ minimap.
  • Wingman
    • The angle of the cone shake area has been increased to 45 degrees >>> 65 degrees.
    • When Wingman turns into a ball after inserting the spike, a unique image is created.
  • Thrash
    • Ultimate points increased by 7 >>> 8

Yoru

Various abilities had no effect on Yoru Fakeout clone, which made it too easy to distinguish him from the real Yoru. We’ll go over the abilities in the game and make sure they interact properly with Yoru’s Fakeout.

  • Blind abilities like Gekko’s Dizzy and Vyses Arc Rose now shows the blind effect on Yoru Fakeout clone as if he were a real agent.
  • Vyse performs her “Successful Blind” celebration lines when she blinds Yorus Fakeout Clone.
  • Cyphers Neural theft will show the Yoru’s Fakeout Clone.
  • cloves Interfere now shows the decay effect on Yoru Fakeout Clone.

Skye and Jett

  • Jetts Tailwind and Skye’s Trailblazer no longer stops at the window in Ascent. Instead, they will break through and continue their movement on the other side.

COSMETIC UPDATES

  • We’ve made some updates to several scope reticles to make them cleaner and less distracting. Here is the list of updated skins: Araxys Operator, Valiant Hero Operator, Reaver Operator, Gothic Marshal. Thanks to Derke for the feedback!

MAP UPDATES

Introducing Glitch, VALORANT’s newest team deathmatch map

  • A 5v5 map that puts you in a dual-themed arena. This is the 5th TDM map and takes place in a “fancy” Maxbot arena.
  • Glitch can be played via the Team Deathmatch game mode queue.

Map rotations

  • Pearl and Split are BACK in the COMPETITION QUEUE
  • Icebox and Lotus are OUT OF THE COMPETITION QUEUE

sunset

We’re updating Sunset’s B site to improve defense capability, post-planting, and provide more ways to play on the site. The B-main pivot box applied a lot of pressure during post-assembly, so we decided to simplify the cover here. You can still play B Main during the post-plant phase, but it should now be easier to manage for repeat players. With these changes, a specific Cypher trip has also been removed.

BUG FIXES
