Pamela Anderson inspires Drew Barrymore to go makeup-free on a talk show

No makeup, no problem.

Pamela Anderson, 57, has been avoiding makeup since Paris Fashion Week in September 2023, and now other celebrities are following suit – most recently Drew Barrymore, 49, and Valerie Bertinelli, 64.

The three women discussed the actress’ new no-makeup move in a preview of an Oct. 22 episode of “The Drew Barrymore Show,” where they all opted to go into the interview fresh-faced.

“I truly believe you own this room,” Barrymore tells Anderson at the start of the clip. “I think you are the pioneer of what we are definitely doing here today.”

Anderson replied: “Isn’t that liberating? Doesn’t it feel free? I feel free. I mean, it took a while too; I’ve had my little, you know, journey with it, but we’re all our own worst critics.”

Bertinelli chimes in and asks when Anderson started embracing and feeling comfortable without beauty products. From then on, the model first spoke about her reasons for doing so.

“I was at Paris Fashion Week and decided I would just go to a fashion show. I didn’t have to compete with anyone. Like, why am I wasting three hours in a makeup chair wearing these beautiful Vivenne Westwood clothes? And I didn’t know anyone would even notice,” Anderson said.

She added: “Then when people started coming up to me and talking about it, I thought, ‘Well, that’s a great message.’ You know, to turn it all the way upside down and find out who I was. I wanted to remember who I was.”

The author continued by sharing that she felt like she had been playing characters her whole life and that she was extremely shy as a child. “Even working on Playboy was a big leap of faith for me,” she added.

“I only noticed it a few years ago and I just shook my head and said, ‘Who am I?’ You know, and that’s when I went home to my garden and started planting things and going into nature and going back to the trees that had known me since I was born,” Anderson explains.

“I bought my grandmother’s property, renovated it and have just started to reclaim everything. And then started looking out without makeup. And then I realized, “Oh, I feel great about myself,” she concluded.

Since her viral appearance at Paris Fashion Week, which earned praise from fellow celebs like Jamie Lee Curtis and Scarlett Johansson, the “Baywatch” alum has always stepped out in fashion with a fresh face.

Last Saturday, for example, Anderson attended the Academy Museum’s fourth annual gala without makeup. She opted for a chic black dress from The Row’s Resort 2025 collection.

She also starred in au natural advertising campaigns and magazine photo shoots – although she also agreed to wear a smokey eye as she served as the face of Smashbox’s latest commercials.

Anderson, who launched her own skincare line in January, even explained in a recent interview that people “never liked” her before she stopped wearing makeup.
