Teens taken into custody after five found dead in Washington home

Five family members were slaughtered Monday at a home in an affluent suburb outside Seattle – and a “high school-aged” teenager was taken into custody.

Authorities found two adults and three young teenagers shot to death at a home in Fall City around 5 a.m. Monday, said Mike Mellis, spokesman for the King County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers on scene immediately arrested a “high school aged” teenager inside the home, Mellis explained.

The juvenile was expected to be booked into the King County Juvenile Detention Center on either first- or second-degree murder charges.

Another teenager, believed to be related to the suspect, was found injured at the scene and taken to a Seattle-area hospital.

Both teens lived at the home, authorities said.

At least some of the 911 calls that alerted officers to the shooting came from people who were inside the home and hiding, sources told KIRO 7.

“After the bodies were discovered, it became clear to us that this was an extremely significant crime scene,” Mellis said.

Sheriff Patricia Cole-Kendall told KING-TV she was “very sad, very disturbed” about the killings.

The shooting involved a family of seven, King County Council member Sarah Perry said in a statement Monday evening.

As of Tuesday morning, the names of the victims were still not known.

A horrified neighbor said a couple and their five children lived in the house, which is now a crime scene.

“I’m just completely shocked,” neighbor Lynne Trowern told KING-TV.

“I keep bursting into tears. That’s why I have to go to my daughter’s house because I can’t be here alone. I keep seeing the children’s faces.”

The nearby Snoqualmie Valley School District confirmed that at least two of the victims were of “school age,” although neither attended district schools.

According to the sheriff’s office, the juvenile suspect is expected to appear in court on Tuesday or Wednesday.
