Dallas Cowboys:

The Dallas Cowboys had a bye in Week 7, but the last time they took the field they hadn’t made it lost at home to the Detroit Lions 47:9. The Cowboys (3-3) have had their worst start through the first six games of the season since 2020, and all of their losses have come at home, where they gave up at least 28 points in each loss.

The defense is struggling, but that could change in Week 8 when OLB Micah Parsons and CB DaRon Blandare back in the starting line-up. Parsons, a three-time Pro Bowler, has been sidelined the past two weeks after suffering a severe ankle sprain in Week 4, while Bland, who led the league with 9 interceptions last year, missed the entire season after undergoing surgery had a stress fracture in training camp.

The season didn’t turn out the way the team expected, but the head coach did Mike McCarthy is optimistic about the opportunity for improvement.

“I think this is an opportunity that we enjoy. I know I enjoy it. And I think they do.” McCarthy said. “So this is a place where a lot of good things can happen. Been here before. And I think this is a really good opportunity for our leadership. I think it’s an excellent opportunity for our young boys to continue playing. It’s a great opportunity for these guys to continue to build on some of the things they’ve done well. Because it will continue to pay off. In my experience this is always the case. When you play so often with young players and so many different players, I think in the long term the game definitely has a chance to be very promising.”

McCarthy has been the team’s head coach since 2020 and although he has led the Cowboys to three straight playoff appearances, they have yet to reach the NFC Championship. McCarthy is in the final season of his contract.

He completed 17 of 31 for 212 passing yards and scored two rushing touchdowns, but this was the first time since Week 1 that he did not score a passing touchdown.

Deebo Samuel And Brandon Aiyuktwo of the team’s best wide receivers, left the game and did not return. Samuel is admitted to hospital with pneumonia and Aiyuk will miss the rest of the season because of one Torn cruciate ligament and cruciate ligament. All-Pro RB Christian McCaffrey has not yet made his season debut due to Achilles tendonitis but he will likely return to action in Week 10 after saying goodbye.
