Chiefs’ Isiah Pacheco releases new recovery video hinting at an early return

Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco posted a video of himself running briskly on a treadmill on Monday.

Pacheco’s rapid recovery progress is even more impressive considering he broke his fibula just over a month ago.

Pacheco suffered a serious injury in the Week 2 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Head coach Andy Reid gave a rather bleak timetable for Pacheco’s return in mid-September.

“I can’t give you a time when he’ll be back,” Reid said days after Pacheco’s surgery. “We’ll just see if it’s this season or next season.”

However, Pacheco’s video suggests the running back is making significant progress for a late cameo appearance in 2024. Since the Chiefs drafted Pacheco in 2022, the seventh-rounder has emerged as a star for Kansas City.

In Pacheco’s absence, running back Kareem Hunt was primarily responsible for gaining yards on the ground.

Hunt’s performance for the Chiefs means the dynasty now has a dangerous duo in Kansas City’s backfield.

Pacheco was expected to be out for up to eight weeks, but when he returns, the Chiefs could look even scarier than they already do.

Kansas City is the only undefeated team in the league. The Minnesota Vikings were 5-0 until the Detroit Lions ended their winning streak.

Both the Vikings and Lions are 5-1. The Chiefs have a good chance to continue their winning streak against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 8.

The Raiders struggled early in the season, particularly at quarterback. Las Vegas also just lost their best receiver, Davante Adams, who they traded to the New York Jets.

The Chiefs have managed to remain intact without the talents of Pacheco, Rashee Rice and Marquise “Hollywood” Brown.

Kansas City will also be without JuJu Smith-Schuster, who suffered an injury in Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.

“I think it just shows the versatility of our team. It’s not just about me, it’s not just about the stats and the light show and stuff like that. It’s about playing team football,” Mahomes said. “I think if we keep working, we’ll get better offensively [in terms of] throw the ball across the field. Until then, it’s nice to know we have a great running game, a great defense and are able to play our best every time it comes time to win football games.”
