  • Codename Synapse has reportedly been in development since 2019.
  • Leaks suggest Project Rodeo was originally planned but may have been canceled or renamed Codename Synapse.
  • Leaked snippets show gameplay focused on taming and riding Pokémon.

Recent leaks suggest something new Pokémon Spin-off game Codename Synapse. The multiplayer game could be both Synapse or rodeois set to be about riding and taming Pokémon, is set to be an online co-op fighting game, and is gearing up to be the next exciting addition to the Pokémon franchise.

Project Rodeo was the originally planned game, but could have potentially been replaced

This new Pokémon game is said to have been developed in collaboration with Game freak And ILCAaccording to Centro LEAKS posts. As of 2019, Synapse is said to have been in development longer than any other current mainstream Pokémon game.

Codename Rodeo was originally planned as a spin-off game, but was apparently canceled. However, according to leaks from a hacker, Game Freak and ILCA began working on a new Splatoon-inspired multiplayer game under the codename Synapse. Interestingly, the leaked Rodeo documents also reference Splatoon as inspiration, suggesting that the two projects could be connected.

It’s possible that Rodeo was renamed and revived as Synapse, but there’s also the possibility that the hacker confused the two. Either way, the concept behind Rodeo might still be alive under a new identity that we’re not sure about.

Codename Synapse controls and gameplay videos have been released

The control schemes were leaked, but they apparently placed more emphasis on the Switch, so mobile users may not benefit from it. Short gameplay excerpts have now also been presented, showing players encounters between riding Pokémon to control or calm wild creatures. If you are interested, most of the gameplay videos will be deleted. So try to retrieve them as soon as possible.

Another leaked clip shows brief test footage of players defeating wild creatures and then riding them, which may also represent a taming system. In addition to co-op gameplay, the game is said to have an objective-based structure where you can team up to battle other trainers or wild Pokémon.

Still, there is no official word or detailed clarification on whether Synapse will ever happen. The alleged developers Game Freak have not yet commented on this. If at all and confirmed, we will see the title on Nintendo Switch and our mobile devices. I will keep you updated as more details emerge.
