Alcon Entertainment, the film production company that produced, among other things, the science fiction film “Blade Runner 2049,” has filed a lawsuit against Tesla – the electric car giant Elon Musk – accuses the automaker of violating the film’s copyright to promote its new robotaxi project, Cybercab. Alcon Entertainment claims that Tesla used an AI-generated image similar to a scene from the film to promote the concept of the new robotaxi at Warner Bros. Discovery’s studio in Burbank, California. The image that sparked the lawsuit, filed yesterday in a Los Angeles court, ran a total of 11 seconds in which Musk specifically mentioned “Blade Runner” while unveiling the Cybercab that Tesla plans to produce by 2027.
