CM Football ends season after loss to Pella Christian – Newton Daily News

PELLA – Pella Christian secured the No. 3 seed in Class 1A, District 6 after a 35-0 home win over the Colfax-Mingo football team on Friday.

The Eagles scored 21 points in the first quarter and 14 in the second to secure the District 6 victory.

Pella Christian rushed for 159 yards, averaged 9.4 yards per carry and scored on special teams in the win.

The Eagles open postseason play against fourth-seeded South Hardin (7-1) in Eldora on Oct. 25 at 7 p.m.

Colfax-Mingo’s season is over as the Tigerhawks will not play another ninth game in Week 9.

Caden Sykes led the Tigerhawks (1-7, 1-4 district) with 39 rushing yards on four carries and 67 receiving yards on four catches.

Shane Hostetter threw for 180 yards and two interceptions and rushed for 40 yards on 11 carries, Chase Trotter caught five passes for 55 yards and Cason Fitch caught two passes for 39 yards.

Alex Teed caught a pass for 10 yards and Xavier Woods caught a pass for nine yards.

Camden Cunningham led the Tigerhawk defense with 4.5 tackles, Trotter contributed four tackles, Sykes had 3.5 tackles and Woods added three tackles.

Cooper Spronk rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries to give Pella Christian the lead (3-5, 3-2), while Brecken Ritzert threw for 54 yards and a score and Landon Nunnikhoven punted 72 yards for a touchdown returned and took the lead Eagles defense with 7.5 tackles.
