The team raises money to help a rival school after a fire

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A ticket booth burst into flames at Crawford Field in St. Albans after a high school football game Friday night.

Now the rebuilding process is emerging and support is pouring in – regardless of the uniform.

St. Albans High Schools and Capital High Schools may go head-to-head on the Capital football field Monday night, but the goal is to stand out from the competition by helping raise money for the Collect Red Dragons while rebuilding.

“The kids actually thought about it. We were talking about it the other night and they said, ‘Wouldn’t it be great if we could do something, how could we contribute?'” said Tracey Wilson, a Capital High School parent. “So the parents just met with some of the boosters and we thought, ‘Why not?'”

Capital High School decided to use all proceeds from concession stand purchases, as well as funds raised, to help St. Albans rebuild the buildings lost in the fire.

“We know how difficult it is to run a program and have something like this happen. It just hurts us and we just wanted to do whatever we could to support them in their time of need,” said Clifton Clark, a Capital High School parent.

If you would like to donate, St. Alban’s Red and Black Athletic Club has organized a GoFundMe.
