Trial set for man suspected of shooting at judge’s house

POINSETT COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) – The trial is set for the Harrisburg man accused of shooting at the home of a Poinsett County judge.

On Tuesday, October 15, during a court hearing, Judge Pam Honeycutt signed the scheduling order for 35-year-old Christopher Ford and set a motion and plea date for Monday, October 18. 9, and ends Friday, December 13th.

Ford faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, after he was arrested Aug. 23 for allegedly shooting at the home of District Judge Ron Hunter

Court documents show that at 8:33 p.m., the Poinsett County E911 Center received a call about an unknown man threatening Judge Hunter on his property. When officers arrived, he was not found.

At approximately 9:33 p.m., Judge Hunter’s wife called 911 to report that someone had fired shots at their home.

Sheriff Kevin Molder said Saturday, Aug. 24, that Ford was found and arrested following a search of his home in Greenfield.

Sheriff Molder said on August 26 that it was discovered that one of Judge Hunter’s mules had been shot in the incident.

That day, Second Judicial Court Judge Scott Ellington found probable cause to indict Ford. He was given a $5 million cash/surety bond.
