NBA fans react to the Denver Nuggets’ $133 million move

NBA fans react to the Denver Nuggets’ 3 million move

The Denver Nuggets have done a good job of keeping a core group together over several years. Nikola Jokic has won three of the last four MVP awards and has been surrounded by Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr. and Aaron Gordon during his emergence as the NBA’s best player.

Denver extended Murray earlier this offseason and Porter is under contract through the 2026-27 season. In a report from ESPN’s Shams Charania on Monday, it was announced that Gordon is the latest to reach an extension agreement.

On Charania: “Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon has agreed to a four-year, $133 million contract extension with the franchise, with a player option in 2028-29 and a trade kicker, Calvin Andrews and Rich Paul from Klutch Sports as well as Elise Gordon told ESPN.”

NBA fans reacted to this news on X.

Via @Heatflyy: “well deserved”

About @kawhi_ring: “This is such a bargain. Insanely underrated defender, elite rebounder, faceoff ball scorer. By the way, I make less than Jalen Green.”

Via @CookedbyAB: “Good deal, honestly Nuggets need him or they’ll be out of contention, so many casuals in the comments”

Via @Br0nToLA23: “He actually got paid, wow”

Via @NBABoards: “Probably and overpaid, but Denver needs to make the most of its championship window so this is a logical deal.”

Charania added an additional post providing more details on this step.

“Aaron Gordon’s new contract is based on assuming his $23 million salary for 2025-26 and then three additional years at his maximum salary plus bonuses,” Charania added. “Total $133 million. A key member of Denver’s 2023 championship team is now in a long-term suspension.”

Gordon has been one of the NBA’s best role players since he played alongside Jokic in Denver’s front court. Gordon is an elite lob threat to the best passing center in NBA history and helps create a very unique element to Denver’s offense.
