“Carroll Football Receives Votes in NAIA Coaches Poll”

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has released the latest edition of the NAIA Football GoRout Top 25 Ratings. Carroll College appears in the vote-receiving portion of the survey.

The Fighting Saints (5-1, 4-0) find themselves in the vote-received zone of the NAIA Coaches Poll for the first time since the preseason.

After a 24-19 win over Eastern Oregon, the Saints remain the only Frontier Conference team undefeated in league play.

Four Frontier schools are currently ranked in the top 15 in the country, including Montana Western (No. 6), Southern Oregon (No. 10), College of Idaho (No. 12) and Montana Tech (No. 15).

Carroll will play all four teams in the current rankings over the next four weeks, starting with a test at No. 12 College of Idaho this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Caldwell, Idaho.

Evaluation methodology:

  • The evaluation is made by a group of head coaches representing each conference. Each conference receives one evaluator for every four schools in the league or division.

  • The top 25 are determined by a points system based on how each evaluator rates the top teams. A team receives 25 points for each first place vote, 24 for second place, 23 for third place, and so on down the list.

  • The highest and lowest ratings for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) will be removed. The team’s rating will be recalculated, with each team being awarded one additional point for each ballot (including discounted ballots) on which the team appears.

  • Teams that receive only one point in the voting are not considered “vote recipients”.
