Will Texas abolish Daylight Saving Time in 1925?

What do you think, Dallas, TX? How about you, Austin, TX? Would you enjoy finally living in a world where there is no “daylight”? I know I would. Even as an 8-year-old child, I knew that it was stupid to change the clock for no reason.

There’s more to it than just a minor inconvenience. Psychology Today reports: “For many people this just means stress and annoyance. According to a University of Chicago poll, 75 percent of Americans would prefer to eliminate the practice of changing clocks twice a year.

75% of Americans want to end this unnecessary pastime.

We can’t get 75% of Americans to agree on anything…except how stupid Daylight Saving Time is. But right now we seem to be stuck with this semi-annual, antiquated time seesaw. This is something we have endured for over a hundred years now.

According to the Bureau of Transportation, daylight saving time has been observed in the United States since 1918. It was created to support the Interstate Commerce Commission, which oversaw railroad transportation.

But the cancellation has gained momentum.

Lawmakers here in Texas have repeatedly tried to eliminate daylight saving time. “In April 2023, the Texas House of Representatives passed a bill to make Daylight Saving Time permanent, but the Senate never voted on it.”

The Senate never voted on it? What the hell, Texas Senate! This is a hanging curve directly over the center of the plate. Let’s get rid of this problem and save a little more of our sanity twice a year.

Well, when we have to turn our entire lives upside down twice a year, there are three things we can remember through the change:

Change or review these things as time changes:

  • Smoke detector batteries – replace with new ones
  • Carbon monoxide meter batteries – replace with new ones
  • Test home alarm systems with monitoring service

I guess I’ll just enjoy the extra hour of sleep for now We drop back on Sunday November 3rd at 2am. (Unless of course you have kids, we don’t get any extra sleep).
