Football wins weekly conference awards

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – For the second time in program history, Wartburg football won the American Rivers Conference’s weekly Artist of the Week award, the conference office announced today. The first appearance of the three award winners took place on November 14, 2022.

Wartburg Prize Winner:
Attack: Dawson Rud

Rud had 229 yards and two touchdowns on 22 attempts. He averaged 10.4 yards per rush. This marked his career high in rushing yards and his two touchdowns matched his career high.

Defense: Justin Grieff

Grieff had three tackles, two tackles for loss, two pass breakups, one sack and one interception from his defensive end position. He played a major role in holding Simpson to two yards rushing that day. This was his first career interception.

Special teams: Cael O’Neill

O’Neill made two field goals from 40 and 41 yards. He added four PATs in the game for a total of 10 points. He also had seven kickoffs for 417 yards and three of those were touchbacks.
