“Tyler, the creator of the “Noid” video with “The Bear” star Ayo Edebiri

After releasing a new song in “St. Chroma” last week and announced that his seventh studio album, Chromacopy“Tyler, the Creator” is scheduled to be released on Monday, October 28th. Ending the current industry standard of Friday midnight releases, Tyler, the Creator has just treated fans to the project’s second single and video, “Noid.”

While the album’s first single, “St. “Chroma” showed the character Tyler plays has more control over his surroundings as he led an army of followers into a green shipping container to blow it up. “Noid” strikes a very different tone as Tyler raps about the trappings of celebrity.

The video, directed by Tyler himself, begins with him walking through a crowd accompanied by a crazed fan The bear Star Ayo Edebiri runs towards him with an iPhone that turns into a weapon as Frank Ocean sings the intro. The song features samples from Zambian Zamrock band The Ngozi Family and their song “Nizakupanga Ngozi” from their 1977 album 45,000 volts and their lead singer, the late Paul Ngozi, sings in his native Nyanja language about being respectful when coming to the crèche (at least out loud genius and Google Translate).

Tyler expresses his paranoia as he begins the first verse rapping: “I can’t even buy a house on my own/Intruders left my brothers dead/Notice every car that drives by/I think my neighbors want that.” “I’m dead/I’ve got a gun under the bed/Triple check I’ve locked the door/I know every creak there is in the floor/Bitch, I’m paranoid,” alluding to the problem of home break-ins among wealthy people Neighborhoods in Southern California. The video then ends with Tyler running away from the world and losing his mind in the middle of the street.

There’s a second verse there that begins with Tyler once again expressing his disdain for celebrities by spitting, “No cameras out, please, I want to eat in peace/” I don’t want to take pictures with you, n- as or B-hes/ The nervous system is shaken long before 19.”

Tyler expects a busy fourth quarter as he plans to continue ChromacopyCamp Flog Gnaw’s 10th anniversary release at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles in November.
