Will the Community film feature a cameo from LeVar Burton? “Troy’s ‘Celebrity Companion’ Ponders Pirate Cliffhanger”

We already know that Donald Glover is there Community Movie – but what about Troy Barnes’ childhood hero LeVar Burton?

As Community Fans will remember that Burton and his “non-celebrity companion” sailed aboard the Childish tycoon at the end of Glover’s farewell episode. Then, in the season five finale, a news station informed the audience that the couple had been captured by pirates off the Gulf of Mexico – a cliffhanger that continued in the series’ sixth (and ultimately final) season on the now-defunct streaming service remained unresolved, Yahoo! Screen.

Burton, who is currently advertising Trivial pursuit (airing Thursdays at 9/8c on The CW), recently stopped by TVLine’s New York offices for an interview with editor-in-chief Kim Roots, who pressed him about his possible involvement with it Community: The Movie. When asked if fans should expect a cameo, the game show host was silent except for three words: “Ask Dan Harmon.”

As for whether he has any concerns about the veracity of that news report at the end of season five? Star Trek Alum replied: “I don’t doubt it. That was the last we heard from them. You are on the Childishjust like the pirates, so… we might need an update.”

More than two years have passed since Peacock gave the green light Community: The Moviebut rest assured: the #SaveGreendale Committee will get back together sometime in the not too distant future. Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Jim Rash, Ken Jeong and Glover are all on board the feature-length sequel.

In an interview in February 2024 with The Hollywood ReporterGlover announced that the film would be based on – what else? – a Greendale Community College meeting. “[Harmon] told me what he wanted and I said, ‘That sounds great.'” “It’s a college reunion, but Abed is like this big director now, and basically this is his magnum opus,” Glover shared . “I think, ‘That sounds incredibly close.'”

Harmon is co-writing the film with former series writer Andrew Guest (whose credits include the fan-favorite episodes “Advanced Dungeons & Dragons” and “A Fistful of Paintballs”). They will executive produce alongside McHale, Russ Krasnoff and Gary Foster.
