Cleveland Clinic and Amazon One Medical Partners Open Amazon Health Office in Northeast Ohio

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Amazon One Medical, which provides virtual and in-person primary care in select U.S. cities, will open its first office in Northeast Ohio next year in partnership with Cleveland Clinic, the clinic announced Monday.

The collaboration will provide patients with access to coordinated care through Amazon One Medical and the clinic’s network of specialists, hospitals and facilities, the clinic said. The location for the office has not yet been determined.

Amazon One Medical — part of Amazon’s push to enter the healthcare space — offers paid per-visit telemedicine visits for routine care or annual memberships. These monthly or annual memberships provide access to same-day and next-day appointments at One Medical practices, as well as on-demand virtual appointments.

“This collaboration demonstrates both organizations’ shared commitment to meeting the needs of our patients and improving care in our communities,” said Dr. Tom Mihaljevic, CEO of the clinic. “Amazon One Medical will complement our current primary care offerings and provide patients with access to essential healthcare services.”

People who use Amazon One Medical offices do not have to be clinic patients, but they must be One Medical members.

The Amazon One Medical facility in the Cleveland area will be staffed by One Medical physicians, the clinic said. The clinic and Amazon One Medical will decide where to open additional offices in Northeast Ohio over the next few years, the clinic said.

Currently, Amazon One Medical is located in Columbus, its only location in Ohio. It is also available in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, New York and other US cities. health.amazon.com.

Amazon’s previous reach in Northeast Ohio

This is not the region’s first collaboration with Amazon.

Northeast Ohio organizations, researchers and companies – including MetroHealth System and Case Western Reserve University – as well as agencies across the country and around the world contribute data to the Social Determinants of Health Innovation Hub, said Brian Lane, president and CEO of the Center for Health Affairs, which advocates for hospitals in Northeast Ohio.
