Man wanted for 2022 murder in Texas was arrested in Iowa

A man who shot and killed his younger brother in Texas more than two years ago has been arrested in northwest Iowa.

Kyle Andrew Coolack, 39, was arrested by a Calhoun County deputy Sunday morning near Pomeroy. A man in Pomeroy had called authorities to say he had kicked Coolack out of his home after learning he was wanted for murder in Texas. The man told KEYC TV in Mankato, Minn., that about a week ago he saw Coolack holding a sign that said he was a veteran looking for work and that he had been provided with food, shelter and work, but Coolack had just admitted that he wasn’t the one. He said it was. A Calhoun County officer soon spotted a man walking along Highway 4 south of Pomeroy.

Coolack initially gave officers a false name but later revealed his true identity. Coolack is in the Carroll County Jail awaiting extradition to Texas. He is wanted on murder charges for shooting his brother in a Houston apartment in March 2022.
