man wounded; Teenage suspect arrested in New Albany shooting

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WAVE) – A man has suffered life-threatening injuries after being shot in New Albany.

According to NAPD Chief Todd Bailey, the shooting occurred shortly after 10 a.m. today in the 300 block of W. 8th St. Officers were dispatched to the location in response to a disturbance call. While en route to the scene, the call was updated with a report that shots had been fired.

Police were searching outside the home for an adult male who had been injured. Officers also arrested a 17-year-old boy they suspect was involved in the shooting.

After first aid was provided on scene by firefighters and EMS, the victim was taken to University of Louisville Hospital.

Bailey said everyone involved in the case would be held accountable and there was no further risk to the public.
