Before you cast your ballot

Before voters place absentee or absentee ballots in the mailbox, they must ensure that their completed ballot is first placed in the smaller, secrecy envelope.

Then place the sealed secret envelope in the official return envelope and fill out the voter declaration on the back. Be sure to sign and date the outer envelope. Ballots not included in both envelopes cannot be counted, according to the Pennsylvania Election Code.

According to the Pennsylvania Election Code, cast ballots may only be returned by the individual voter and not by anyone else.

All Dropbox locations are monitored using CCTV video surveillance. Anyone who deposits a ballot that does not belong to them without a designated representative form will be referred to the District Attorney’s Office.

Only ballots issued by Bucks County PA can be returned to a secure ballot drop box in Bucks County.

If you live in another county, you must return your ballot to that county’s board of elections.

If a voter has an illness or disability that prevents them from casting their ballot, they may designate a representative to pick up or drop off their ballot.

The Commissioner may only pick up or drop off ballots for voters who live in the same household. The first page should be signed by the voter, the second page by the voter.
