UFC and ZZZ host the ultimate Frisbee tournament – The trend

UFC President Gary Jackson tries to catch a Frisbee.

The Ultimate Frisbee Club (UFC) and Zeta Zeta Zeta (ZZZ) will host an Ultimate Frisbee Tournament on Wednesday, October 23rd at 5:00 p.m. at the Oval. In this tournament, returning and new players can show off their skills and win great prizes.

UFC President Gary Jackson looks forward to hosting and coordinating this event. He spoke about how important it was for him and the club to organize such an event.

“We have wanted to host an ultimate Frisbee tournament for years. “We always talk about having a tournament and getting new people into the sport and I thought we should stop talking about it and do something,” Jackson said.

He also explained that players should be prepared to stretch and walk around and know the basics of throwing a Frisbee. For new players, the referees and experienced players will show you the basics of throwing a Frisbee and explain step by step how to play the game. This tournament is open to everyone on campus, including faculty and alumni.

Each game is played with five points or with the team that has the most points after 15 minutes of play. The less experienced teams will compete against similar teams to ensure fairness in their first matches for the tournament. Five members of each team will be on the field at the same time. Each team is also allowed one substitute player and each team must have at least one woman on the field at all times.

If a game is still tied after 15 minutes of play, the tiebreaker takes place in a “toss” in which two members of each team attempt to throw a Frisbee as far down the field as possible. Whoever throws the furthest wins this game and advances in the tournament. This will also be a single-elimination tournament.

ZZZ President Brook Mathers is excited to partner with UFC on this event. This is the first time both clubs have collaborated on a campus event.

“We want to reach out to everyone and let everyone know they are welcome to participate,” Mathers said.

Each member of the winning team will receive a college survival basket made by ZZZ. Mathers designs the winning baskets that each player receives if they win. These baskets contain drinks, snacks, pens, lipsticks and more.

In addition to winning the college survival hoops, the team will receive the “Ultimate Frisbee Championship Belt” for winning the tournament.

“I highly recommend everyone to stop by if you’ve ever been curious about Ultimate Frisbee. This will be a great time to do that,” said President Jackson.

Registration closes at midnight on Tuesday, October 22nd to allow each team to be bracketed for the event. Players are strongly encouraged to register to secure their place in the tournament.
