Hazelight Studios’ new game title appears to have been leaked

It seems that there is no way to stop the leaks once they occur. Game Freak is already dealing with a massive leak that revealed tons about past and future Pokémon games; Details about Nintendo Switch Online’s secret playtest are also circulating, and now another studio may have discovered the bug.

Josef Fares and Hazelight Studios teased that a new co-op game was in development, only teasing part of the game’s name. It now appears that the name of the game has been revealed by a reliable insider.

Split-screen co-op could be an important factor

According to reliable industry insider billbil-kun, who posted on the Deadlabs Magazine website (thanks VGC), the next game from Hazelight Studios will be called Shared fictionand has been in development for about two years. Although no further information about the game has been revealed, billbil-kun has an excellent track record of insider information and leaks.

The first part of the title suggests some kind of split-screen functionality. This was already hinted at by Hazelight in the first tweet. Next to the image of the script, we can see some drawings on a sticky note that looks like a split screen. Since there are three versions, perhaps we can change the orientation of the screen layout.

The name Split Fiction also fits the hint given by Josef Fares himself. After receiving many questions, he gave the hint that the name of the game was “S*** ******N”, which exactly matches billbil-kun’s information.

The studio already has a successful history of split-screen co-op games with A Way Out and It Takes Two, so this is no surprise. But if the dynamic split-screen angle holds true, then this will be a new take on the concept.

As for the “fiction” part of the title, we’ll have to wait for the official reveal to find out what it really means. There are a few more clues hidden in the Hazelight image, perhaps they could shed a little more light on the game and its features.
